As automation becomes increasingly common, the demands become greater on effective communication between the units and systems used to control processes and those that actually carry out production and measurement.

Data communication is the backbone that assures improved efficiency and competitiveness, regardless of whether the application is manufacturing or process control.

Interfaces for industry are typically RS422, RS485, RS232 and Industrial Ethernet. We also support the full range of PROFIBUS and MODBUS optical to electrical converters.

The B-model is available in a LD-63 (multidrop) version. This unit are specially developed for Manchester encoded protocols with transmission rates above 500 kbit/s. One typical example is the Modbus+ protocol running at 1 Mbit/s. The B-models have a RS-422/485 interface and is possible to run at transmission rates of up to 4 Mbit/s. The unit are available in DC 820 nm and DC single mode versions.

The MD-63 can be used for point to point communication between equipment with RS-422/485 interfaces. Fibre optic cable is completely immune to external interference, which makes this unit ideal for harsh industrial environments. Another reason may be the need for a high level of security as fibre optic cable is very hard to tap. The MD-63 can handle data rates up to 1.5 Mbit/s and is available both in a multi- and single mode fibre version.
